Community Traditions
Move-In
Like all of Baylor, the HRC is dedicated to welcoming their new students in the best way possible during Move2BU! There’s no need to lift a finger during HRC move-in. Returning students and staff are there to carry new students’ belongings and guide them throughout the move-in process. Despite the heat and the sweat, the HRC comes together as a community to serve our neighbors and joyfully welcome them home.
Community Dinner
Once per semester, the HRC has Community Dinner, an evening gathering friends and faculty together for fine dining and fruitful discussion. Each fall, we hear from an esteemed speaker on aspects of living in Christian community, and each spring, we hear from three of our seniors reflecting on their time in the HRC. Community Dinner is one of the community's most beloved traditions.
Treat Night
Across campus, residence halls celebrate Halloween with Treat Night, an opportunity for faculty and staff to bring their children to the halls for trick-or-treating and festive fun. At the HRC, we transform our halls into a Halloween party with candy, games, and crafts. Our students lead games and line the halls to pass out candy. We love dressing up to welcome the families of our faculty and staff into our home.
Garden Party
Each year, the Honors Residential College hosts a beautiful garden party to honor the hard work of students throughout the year and to celebrate the arrival of spring. Students gather to eat fine food, chat with friends, and celebrate the closing of the school year.
